Pheniramine acts as an inverse agonist at histamine H1 receptors, reducing itching, redness, and edema. It also has sedative effects due to its action on the CNS.

• Common: Sedation, dizziness, nausea, dry mouth, constipation, urinary retention, blurred vision.
• Rare: Blood dyscrasias, convulsions, hallucinations.

Overdose Effects:

• Symptoms: CNS excitation and depression, convulsions, hypotension.
• Management: Symptomatic and supportive treatment, gastric lavage, diazepam for convulsions, and vasopressors for hypotension.

✔️ Indication of Avil 22.7mg Tablet

Pheniramine is used to treat allergic conditions such as hay fever, runny nose, allergic conjunctivitis, vasomotor rhinitis, acute rhinitis, and itching skin conditions. Additionally, PHENIRAMINE MALEATE is also used to prevent and treat motion sickness, nausea, vomiting, and vertigo due to Menière's disease and other labyrinthine disturbances.

✔️ Pharmacology

Pheniramine, the active ingredient in Avil 22.7 mg, is an alkylamine derivative that acts as a histamine H1-receptor antagonist. It has anticholinergic and moderate sedative effects.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Avil 22.7mg Tablet

Tablet (22.7 mg): Adults and those over 12 years start with 1 tablet 2-3 times daily after meals. The dose may be increased to 2 tablets 3 times daily if needed.

• Start treatment at the lowest possible dose.
• Elderly patients should use the adult dose with caution.
• To prevent travel sickness, take the first dose at least 30 minutes before travel.

• MAO inhibitors may prolong and intensify the anticholinergic effects of pheniramine.
